Patrick Stewart: ‘I'd Bring Back Picard Only For A Very Good Reason' Says X-Men Star

On December 4th in NYC Sir Patrick Stewart was inducted into Gray Line New York’s prestigious ‘Ride of Fame’. But fame was not necessarily the star’s driving force behind his hugely successful career as he said that “all I wanted was to be on the stage”. But fate had other plans for the English born actor as he moved his career from the stage to the screen. Now, at the age of 73 the seasoned actor is a television icon, Broadway performer and star of the big screen and a favorite in Hollywood From Shakespeare to X-Men Stewart has had a colorful career with the opportunity to play many different roles. But none so significant than his portrayal of Captain Jean-Luc Picard in ‘Star Trek: The Next Generation’. It was this role in Star Trek that made him a star, something he says he will always be thankful for. Now starring on Broadway in ‘Waiting for Godot’ (with none other than X-Men co-star Sir Ian McKellen), Stewart has returned to his first love, the theater. But we wanted to know: would the star go back to the future and reprise his role as Captain Picard? On the big screen Stewart played Charles Xavier in the X-Men series, a hugely successful franchise in one of his most iconic role on the big screen. The latest installment ‘X-Men: Days Of Future Past’ is due to hit theaters in the US in mid 2014. While he was tight lipped about giving us any spoilers he did confirm that the film was “extraordinary” and the ‘best one yet’.
