The EU aid chief says the Central African Republic is in need of serious help to save it from a sectarian crisis, before it's too late...

(SOUNDBITE) (English) EUROPEAN UNION COMMISSIONER FOR INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION, HUMANITARIAN AID AND CRISIS RESPONSE, KRISTALINA GEORGIEVA, SAYING:

''Clearly what needs to be done is to beef up significantly of peacekeeping forces. Tripling or quadrupling what is there.''

(SOUNDBITE) (English) EUROPEAN UNION COMMISSIONER FOR INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION, HUMANITARIAN AID AND CRISIS RESPONSE, KRISTALINA GEORGIEVA, SAYING:

''Unless there is an immediate, significant change in security conditions, these two risks can deepen so much that we have a tragedy on our hands. And we'll look back and say, why didn't we act sooner?''
