Prof Ishwar Dyal Gaur is a historian who works on History of Punjab with reference of folk-lore, Sufi Poetry, Guruwani and revolutionary spirit. He traces connections of Baba Farid, Dulla Bhatti, Heer of Waris Shah and Bhagat Singh to understand Punjabi character as well as concept of love and Martyrdom. He also writes poetry and have written sketches of rural characters and landscape.
