Marvel superhero Thor, played by Chris Hemsworth, crushed his box office competition over the weekend, raising "Thor: The Dark World" to the top of U.S. and Canadian box office charts.

The sequel took in a mighty $86.1 million in ticket sales.

Meanwhile, the raunchy comedy "Jackass Presents: Bad Grandpa," finished in second place with $11.3 million from Friday through Sunday.

And the 3D movie "Free Birds" nudged close behind with $11.2 million.

It features the voices of Owen Wilson and Woody Harrelson as turkeys who team up and travel back in time -- to remove the holiday bird from the Thanksgiving dinner table.
