Friend For Life (2013) is a resource center for Independent Living in central Kentucky. It is nestled among the horse farms, expanding residential neighborhoods, and developing industrial areas in Lexington, KY. Independence Place is a federally-funded, non-profit, consumer-directed resource Center for Independent Living.
This nonresidential Center is responsible for providing Information and Referral, Peer Support, Independent Living Skills training and education, and Advocating on behalf of consumers with disabilities on both the individual and system levels.
The Center also provides intervention for people with disabilities to assist them in moving out of institutions or to assist them in staying in their homes. The organization's objective is to assist people with disabilities to achieve their full potential for community inclusion through improving access, choice, and equal opportunity.
