Most Americans would rather remain unemployed than work for companies with bad reputations. That’s the bottom line finding of an annual survey by CR Magazine, conducted with Allegis Group Services. In a poll of over 1,000 Americans, equally divided between the employed and unemployed, 69 percent said that they would not take a job with a company that had a bad reputation, even if they were unemployed. More than half said they would take a job with a company that had a bad reputation only if they were offered significantly more money; 33 percent would need a 50-100 percent salary increase to make such a move. A large majority, 84 percent, would consider leaving their current jobs if offered a role at a company with an excellent corporate reputation. 36 percent of those would require only a modest salary increase of one to 20 percent to consider such a move.
