Thousands demand the release of detained football fans in Egypt

Thousands of Egyptian football fans marched through central Cairo on Wednesday (November 6) to demand the release of 25 fans detained by the police during clashes last month.
Fans loyal to Egypt's biggest football club, al-Ahly, chanted slogans denouncing the Interior Ministry as they marched from the club grounds to the High Court.
Violence broke out between the fans, known as the Ultras, and police on October 13, at Cairo airport where the al-Ahly supporters had come to welcome the return of the club's handball team after their loss in the final of the African Cup in Tunisia.
Police used tear gas to disburse the crowd of several hundred fans who they accused of storming the airport and assaulting security personnel, charges the Ultras deny.
The Ultras also blame the police for playing a role in the killing of 74 al-Ahly football fans during a pitch invasion after a match in Port Said, a city in north-eastern Egypt, in Fe
