STORY: Canadian investigators were on the scene at Montreal's Trudeau Airport after a fire on the tarmac sent people fleeing a plane on Monday.

Video footage showed passengers and crew scrambling from the plane, most of them sliding down the emergency chute. It happened after a fire broke out on a nearby luggage-belt loader and smoke filled the cabin.

About 250 passengers were on board the Royal Air Maroc plane from Casablanca at the time. Five people were taken to hospital with injuries consistent with sliding falls.

Canadian Transportation Safety Board investigators are investigating the cause of the fire, and whether evacuation procedures were properly carried out.
