Alternative rock band Jane's Addiction has received the 2,509th star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Band members Perry Farrell, Eric Avery, Stephen Perkins and Dave Navarro attended the ceremony on the famed Hollywood Boulevard.

SOUNDBITE: Dave Navarro, Jane's Addiction, saying (English):

"Growing up in the city and being a L.A. native, spending a lot of time in Hollywood and then later in my years getting into the dark subculture of what Hollywood is and the fact that these stars represent people who have come and gone and a legacy in Hollywood and yet, there's something haunted and mystical about it and to be part of that haunted Hollywood, to me, is so incredible and such a great gift."

The band was formed in Los Angeles in 1985 and was one of the first alternative bands to gain mainstream media attention and commercial success in the United States in the 1990s.

The group broke up in 1991 and brief reunited in 1997.
