There is &34dark brown&34 in the rug, but the background color is a darker, smokey gray. The design colors are dark brown leaves and then creamcolored &34flowers&34 that are really more impressionistic flowers than anything else. I was leery about the pattern because the chair this was going under is a print. Luckily, the print of this rug is large, so it does not clash with the smaller chair print. This is a lovely rug it says &34shag&34 so there is a good pile, but its not really shaggy. Its very soft and was wrapped really well so laid down without too many bumps right away. I have to mention I ordered two rugs because I couldnt decide and am SO IMPRESSED with Amazons amazingly efficient return process. Easy to find it online, arrange home pick up by UPS, they came the next day with the printed label, and the day after that I got the email on my refund. Be aware that if you received free shipping that might be taken out of your refund and of course the shipping cost to send it back, but it was worth ensuring I got the perfect rug.
