Lon Snowden returned from Moscow on Wednesday where he visited his son, Edward Snowden, the former U.S. spy agency contractor who is living in a secret location in Russia beyond the reach of U.S. authorities.

"He's comfortable. He's happy, and he's absolutely committed to what he's done," Lon Snowden said about his son.

Lon Snowden says he advised his son to stay in Russia, and is grateful that he has been granted asylum there.

"There's nothing I can really do to help him in Russia other than to be a father. What I can do to help the cause, is to be a responsible American citizen and I intend to do that. There's much work for me to do here on U.S. soil," Lon Snowden said at JFK airport in New York.
