STORY: Heavy winds and rains from typhoon Nari caused landslides and flash floods in the northern Philippines on Saturday, killing at least five people, disaster officials said.
The typhoon made landfall in the eastern coastline of Aurora province early morning, uprooting trees and causing severe flooding as it crossed the northern provinces.
Crops were heavily damaged in the rice-producing province of Nueva Ecija due to powerful winds.
Disaster officials reported three people dead after being crushed by fallen trees, while one person was electrocuted from a malfunctioning power line. A rescuer also died after being buried in a mudslide while on standby.
Officials said three fishermen were missing off the shores of Catanduanes Province since Friday .
