THE TWOKS

Xani Kolac (violin/vocals) + Mark Leahy (drums).

The Twoks are a duo from Melbourne town born and raised in live music pubs such as Fitzroy's legendary Rainbow Hotel and St. Kilda's Prince of Wales.

Having spent countless hours revving crowds around the country, at Edinburgh Fringe Festival and in New York City, their live show is now a refined piece of art. Raw, gutsy and all-or-nothing, The Twoks deliver the epic grandeur of Sigur Ros in a fire ball of fun like France's Camille.

The violin and drums are an odd pairing, but it's just the way it is. The Twoks' move away from the conventional has more to do with their overall approach to music-making rather than their instrumentation. In July 2013, the duo released an all-instrumentals LP, Sailing Away capturing the subtle and grandiose contrasts of a "danceable" live show. Featuring a twenty-two minute improvisation divided up into tracks, this LP proudly marks the beginning of The Twoks' move away from what's expected and into the realm of "anything goes".

It's creative, sheer joy and it's real. And festivals are quickly catching on. The Twoks have performed at DARK MOFO (2013), St Kilda Festival (2013), Wave Rock Festival (2013), Brunswick Music Festival (2013), Darebin Music Feast (2013), Woodford Folk Festval (2012-2013), Edinburgh Fringe Festival (2011) and Adelaide Fringe Festival (2008-2012). The duo have also performed sold out shows in Melbourne, Sydney and Adelaide.

"A force to behold." (themusic.com.au, 2013)
