Queens woman kills husband by crashing car while he clung to roof

A domestic spat between a 51-year-old New York woman and her much younger hubby ended in tragedy with the cougar killing her catch in a rage-fuelled car stunt.

Maria Espinoa and her 34-year-old husband Matthew Soria had been arguing about money. Soria rode his bicycle up beside Espinoa who was climbing into the couple's SUV parked outside their Queens apartment. Soria was demanding cash and keys to the car.

The feud erupted when Soria tried to stop Espinoa from entering the car and in return, the livid wife hurled him out of the way.

Not one to give up, Soria then mounted the estranged couple's SUV, clinging to roof racks on the vehicle.

Undeterred, Espinoa reversed the car violently into a parked car behind her, in an effort to lurch her husband from the roof. When his physical might proved to match his determination, Espinoa decided to take her husband for a less than romantic "ride" through the streets of Queens, hitting speeds of up to 80mph on the joyless ride.

After slamming the car into a U-turn, Espinoa crashed into another car, propelling her husband from the roof of her car, but ultimately fatally pinning him between the two cars.

Soria was pronounced dead upon arrival to hospital. Espinoa has been charged with his murder.
