R Anil Kumar (32), who played the lead in the 2007 Kannada film Shivani and later acted in several TV serials, died in a road accident in Malleshwaram Tuesday night.
The actor crashed his BMW motorbike into a tree on the footpath on 17th Cross Road while riding home around midnight.
The impact shattered his helmet and he sustained severe head injuries.
Onlookers rushed him to a private hospital, where he died around 12.45 am.
The police said Kumar, who had married 18 months ago, was also a realtor and lived in BEM Layout, Kamakshipalya. He had imported the bike worth Rs 26 lakh six months ago.
Kumar was returning after delivering some cash to his father Balaram, who was trying to seal a real estate deal in KR Puram that night.
