BUSINESS DAILY - Shutdown threatens to dent US economic recovery

The partial government shutdown in the US threatens to reduce growth by as much as 1.4% in the October to December period if it lasts just three weeks. Back here in France, the government says it over-estimated a drop in the jobless total in August. The initial figure of 50,000 may need to be halved after it emerged that one mobile phone operator failed to send out text messages to remind people to update their employment details.
