Peshawar death toll rises

The number of dead in Peshawar's third bomb attack in a week rose to at least 42 on Monday.

A car bomb ripped through a busy ancient market in the old part of the Pakistani city a day earlier.

As shopkeepers began clearing the debris from what remained of their businesses, local residents spoke of their fear of more violence.

(SOUNDBITE)(Urdu) FAHEEM KHAN, LOCAL RESIDENT, SAYING:

"We seek forgiveness from our families when we leave home because we don't know whether we'll return or not. The circumstances have become such that no-one can go out shopping or to do any work because anyone who leaves home is not sure he will return."

At least 107 other people were wounded in Sunday's bombing.

Two days earlier at least 17 people died when a bus was bombed.

The previous Sunday more than 80 perished in a double suicide bomb attack on a church.
