Cassidy Lynn Campbell: Transgender homecoming queen posts tearful video

Cassidy Lynn Campbell, the Huntington Beach California teen who made history last week by being the first transgender student in California, and maybe the country, to be crowned homecoming queen has posted a tearful video online in which she talks about the hurtful comments she's received since her win.

The video has already been viewed more than 60,000 times since it appeared over the weekend. Campbell attracted plenty of media coverage after she nominated herself for the Marina High School Homecoming Queen title.

Cassidy began her gender transformation from Lance three years ago and says she's felt like a girl trapped inside a boy's body her whole life. Now 16, she hopes her crowning as Marina High School's homecoming queen will provide inspiration for others like her.

But she's also suffered catty and spiteful comments from classmates at school and strangers online. Maybe they're just jealous?

Other videos on her YouTube page in which she uses makeup and wigs to transform herself from a boy into a girl have been watched nearly half a million times.
