Peru: trapped man escapes mine after earthquake

A man trapped in a mine had a lucky escape after a 7.0 magnitude earthquake shook the cost of Peru on Wednesday causing landslides, damaging homes and schools and injuring at least 17.

The quake struck 46 km deep in the Pacific Ocean. It shook buildings in the capital Lima 500 kilometers away and was also felt in Northern Chile.

There are no reports of deaths resulting from the quake.
