The Little Mermaid TV Commercial for Theater release 1989

A commercial for The Little Mermaid's theatrical release in 1989. This release of the film proved so popular for Disney that they released the film on video quickly (although the film was still playing in theaters at the time Disney made the announcement [possibly including dollar theaters which usually pick up films shortly before video release]). Their announcement in spring of 1990 was an unusual move from The Walt Disney Company, whom usually would wait a year after theatrical release in order to give them the crown that is a video release (which they did in subsequent years, with some other movies like Oliver & Company being exceptions)
