Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov welcomed Syrian Foreign Minister Walid al-Moualem to Moscow on Monday for talks on the crisis in Syria.
Lavrov said Russia and Syrian government officials will continue to ask that opposition leaders comply with a Geneva mandated peace initiative from June of 2012.
Lavrov said a U.S. military strike on Syria could lead to the spread of terrorism, and Syrian Foreign Minister Walid al-Moualem accused President Barack Obama of backing terrorists, drawing comparisons with the attacks on the United States on Sept. 11, 2001
