Southern City Blocks Plan to Build 11 Story, 110 Foot Cross in Mississippi

A proposed 110 foot cross is at the center of controversy in Brandon, Mississippi. A group called Crosses Across America wants to place the huge cross next to the First Baptist Church of Brandon. The City’s Planning Commission claims there is an ordinance that says auxiliary structures can only be 20 feet high. The group reportedly got permission from both the FAA and Mississippi Dept. of Transportation. A final decision will be made by the local board of Alderman on September 14.
