Syria crisis: Obama puts military strike on ice

US President Barack Obama has stepped away from the brink of attacking Syria over the regime's alleged use of chemical weapons. He is promising to go to the US Congress for its approval, and that means he may not be able to act for at least 10 days until the end of the summer recess.
