Elementary School Kids Held Up While Police Searched for Mountain Lion

Students at Clay Elementary school in Altoona, Iowa were forced to stay indoors after a witness reported seeing a mountain lion. The local police department received a call from a concerned citizen who saw a mountain lion roaming around the south side of town.

The local police department received a call from a concerned citizen who saw a mountain lion roaming around the south side of town. According to the caller, the animal was only about a mile from the elementary school.
Students were kept indoors during recess as a precautionary measure. Staff at the school even called parents to make sure children who typically walk home could be picked up or take a bus.
A police spokesperson stated “We’re going to check the area to see what we can see, but if we don’t see anything or don’t get any other reports, we go back into service.”
Cops searched the area for about half an hour but no lion was located. They were unable to confirm the eyewitness report.
Last year, a mountain lion was killed by local police in October. Since then, numerous unconfirmed sightings have come in.
