Ingushetia official killed in ambush

Ahmed Kotiev, the top security official in the Russian Caucasus republic of Ingushetia has been killed in an ambush. He was well known as being very active in persuading Islamist insurgents to stop fighting and lay down their arms.
The region is very volatile, and violence has frequently spread across the border with Chechnya.
