Child encounters death for the first time

Melissa Darnbrough’s two-year-old daughter Niamh had caught her very own ‘Buttonyfly’ and was taking care of it when something horrible happened. Niamh was a little too rough with her new pet and it passed away. This was Niamh’s first encounter with death, and although she had a little trouble at first grasping the concept, she soon learns how tragic it is when something suffers the finality of death.
