Star Wars director George Lucas is to be honored with the National Medal of Arts at a White House ceremony next week. The 69-year-old is among 12 recipients being recognized for their cultural contributions to the U.S. The White House praised the director for "combining the art of storytelling with boundless imagination and cutting-edge techniques." President Obama will award the medals next Wednesday.

Director Guillermo Del Toro brought his robot-versus-aliens action flick "Pacific Rim" to London for its European premiere on Thursday (July 4). The Mexican director's $150 million film puts a comic book spin on the end of the world with epic battles between robots and monsters, with social insecurity at its core. The film stars Idris Elba, Rinko Kikuchi and Charlie Day. "Pacific Rim" opens in the U.S. and U.K. on July 12.

The international media circus has begun outside the London hospital where the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge's royal baby will be born later this month. Do
