Inquiry into worker abuse and fraud in German meat industry

Prosecutors in northern Germany are investigating claims of human exploitation and tax fraud in the meat industry.

An undercover TV report claimed contract workers from Poland and Romania were kept in cramped conditions and suffered abusive working practices.

Two meat producers deny the accusations, saying they are not responsible for independent contractors.
