Two of Brazil's biggest cities, São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro have agreed to reverse increases in public transport fares that have triggered mass protests.
The separate decisions followed another day of demonstrations and rioting.
Brazil has not seen anything like it in recent times, and governments both local and national are trying to diffuse the anger.
