PRODUCED BY AARON WILEY, CORMAC BRENOCK & JOANNE COLLINS
"WHAT do you get when you mix up Ian Curtis, Dylan Thomas and John Cooper Clarke? One answer would be a very strange individual but he is also a magnetic live performer!" (Cork Independent).
August 2011 saw the release of 'Sustain your Ability to Satisfy' by Wasps Vs Humans aka Carl Antony Plover. The first book to be published by the punk poet, has seen him take in a series of dates across Ireland and the UK to promote its release. Carl's version of poetry has intrigued the Irish press & radio. Having featured on RTE Radio 1, the poet was brought back to record some more performances to be aired throughout the rest of this year.
Wasps Vs Humans debuted as a performance poet at the Cork Mid Summer's Festival in 2009 and went on to support Jinx Lennon on a number of dates around Ireland, including a performance in Dublin with Christy Moore.
Originally a playwright, the man behind Wasps vs Humans has written plays for theatre, all produced, including a UK national tour and taking in the Brighton International Arts Festival. Musically, he released an L.P and Single with UK based 80s avant garde/experimental band, 4,000,000 Telephones, with a tour in Germany, previously gaining interest from national UK press and making the playlist of radio 1's John Peel show.
Wasps vs Humans' is a FULL ON one man show, featuring poetry, rhythms, songs & slamming! A commentary based style observing snap shots of life; political and humorous, his take on the world is delivered with a growl and a smile.
"Plover's thoughts of life, the world and the celebrity obsessed culture we live in are honest, observant and true" (Hot Press magazine)
"Wasps Vs Humans injects a new sting into Poetry" (Cork News)
"In normal conversation, Plover's sentences bubble up with a child like energy. In performance mode, he hunches like a boxer and bobs and weaves with the rhythms." (Cork Evening Echo)
