With less than five percent of votes counted,Hassan Rouhani appears to have secured a strong lead in Iran's presidential election.
The Iranian Interior Ministry said preliminary results showed cleric Rouhani, regarded by many as the most moderate of the candidates, had pulled 47 percent of the vote.
Initial results put Tehran Mayor Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf in second place.
