Torrential downpour prompts evacuations in Austria

Torrential rain caused widespread flooding and landslides across Austria, forcing the evacuation of hundreds of people.

At least one person, an emergency worker, was killed in a mudslide and two people are missing. Weather forecasters say two months worth of rain has been dumped on the area in a matter of days. Emergency teams here and in Germany were at work closing down roads and prepping buildings for rising water levels.

Some lower lying areas were completely washed out.

The European deluge also prompted officials in Prague to close the subway system and warn locals to be prepared to move.
