Australia orders drones from the US Navy.

Drones are becoming an indispensable part of many countries around the world.

The Australian government has announced they will work with the United States to assess the costs and suitability of the Navy’s new surveillance drone for Australian use.
The Triton aircraft is designed for patrolling over the ocean, using high tech surveillance gadgets.

Between 2 and 3 billion dollars will be spent on the Triton drones, which come equipped with radar detection, infrared cameras, and target tracking systems.

Triton has been developed by the Northrop Grumman military defense company.

Northrop Grumman spokesman Tim Paynter said, “We believe Triton is the best solution for the Australia's maritime surveillance and coastal border protection needs.”

The US Navy will test fly the first Triton soon, and has placed orders for 68 of the 100 million dollar drones.

The Australian government has reportedly been using hired Israeli owned drones for military surveillance in Afghanistan.

What do you think? Should various governments use drones extensively or only in limited capacities?
