We are glad to introduce Moscow State Academic Theatre of Dance «Gzhel» which was created in 1988 by famous choreographer People's Artist of Russia Professor Academician Vladimir Zakharov.
The Theatre's creative directedness that was initiated by its founder consists in the desire to tell the spectators, through the means of an, about the interesting phenomena, traditions and customs of the Russian folk everyday life, about its rich spiritual world, about the ingenuity and creativity of the Russian craftsmen, about the aesthetic feeling that is within. Thus the Theatre is eager to make its contribution to the keeping and developing of the national culture.
Making use of the rich folklore experience of Russia's various regions, the Theatre revives the scenes of the past and present, thus giving a new life to the wonderful creations of the folk art masters (Gzhel, Palekh, Khokhloma, Dymkov, Finift...).
The «Gzhel» Theatre is a collective image of Russian Beauty and exemplary samples of the national culture.
The core of the Theatre is a highly qualified ballet troupe, i.e. the graduates of this country's choreographic schools, whose range of creative abilities is very wide. The ballet dancers' strong points are their youth, sincerity, and vast potential of expressive means.
